From about 1910 until 1942, the Arkansas Valley Interurban Railway (the AVI) served the people and businesses of Newton, Wichita, Hutchinson and all the communities in between these towns. Learn about some of the unique features of the AVI, the stories of the people who rode the electric railway, and what it transported in addition to people.
